Abu Simbel tickets 2026 at a glance
The tariff for foreign adults is EGP 750 on a normal day. Foreign students pay EGP 375. On the two Sun Festival days, 22 February and 22 October, the price rises to EGP 1,200 for adults and EGP 600 for students. The tariff is for the Abu Simbel site with its two temples: the Great Temple of Ramses II and the smaller temple of Hathor and Nefertari.
You can buy at the gate or online. Online booking is not compulsory, so plan whichever way suits you. Some day trips include the entrance fee in the tour price, others do not. Read the description of each tour before you add the ticket again.

Our picks: tours with the entry included
All three include the Abu Simbel entry, so you do not buy a ticket on site. The group tour is the budget option; the two private trips add your own guide and car.

Abu Simbel entrance fee 2026
Tariff per person in Egyptian pounds. Prices can change, so confirm them before you travel.
| Visitor | Normal day | 22 February and 22 October |
|---|---|---|
| Foreign adult | EGP 750 | EGP 1,200 |
| Foreign student | EGP 375 | EGP 600 |
| Egyptian adult | EGP 30 | EGP 60 |
| Egyptian student | EGP 10 | EGP 20 |
Vehicles pay a separate ticket on top. It is EGP 25 for a car or taxi, EGP 50 for a microbus, EGP 75 for a coaster and EGP 100 for a large bus. This is a vehicle fee, not a fare per person. Tour operators usually settle it for you.
For most visitors the simplest plan is a guided day trip: check whether the entrance is included, and if it is not, budget EGP 750 per adult on top of the tour price.
Abu Simbel opening hours
The temples are open every day.
Daily 06:00 to 17:00
The temples have no weekly closing day. Early hours help in summer, when the midday heat is high.
Weather and best time →Last entry at 16:00
Last admission is one hour before closing. That is not the closing time of the site. Plan to be at the gate before 16:00, and expect to need more than an hour inside.
Sun Festival days
On 22 February and 22 October the higher price applies. The next date is 22 February 2027. Crowds and arrival times are different on these days, so read the page on the festival before you plan.
Sun Festival →How to buy your ticket
At the gate or online.
At the gate
You can buy your ticket at the entrance. This is the usual choice for travelers on a guided day trip.
Online
An online shop for Egyptian monuments sells the ticket as well. It can show a higher total than the tariff above, for example EGP 822 for a foreign adult on a normal day and EGP 1,272 on a Sun Festival day. Look at the final amount before you pay.
Payment and refunds
The shop accepts Visa and Mastercard for online purchases, in the app and at its counters. Tickets are non-refundable, so be sure of your date before you buy. Do not count on every foreign card being accepted.
Free entry and reductions
Children under 6 enter free, and the student price applies with a valid student card up to age 24. Do not assume a general child discount for older children.
Photo rules at Abu Simbel
Personal photos and videos with a phone or camera are allowed at archaeological sites in Egypt. Inside the temples you may not use a flash. Personal shots in public areas are free of charge.
Professional lighting and equipment that blocks other visitors need permission. Commercial shoots go through the responsible department of the ministry. A permission for private photos does not cover film production or other gear, so ask before you bring a larger setup. More on what to expect indoors is on the page about the temples from the inside.
